Inflation, as measured by the change in the Colombo Consumers’ Price Index (CCPI), increased to 15.1% in February from 14.2% in January, the Department of Census and Statistics said.
The CCPI for all items for the month of February increased to 160.1 from 158.4 in January.
The Year-on-Year inflation of Food Group increased to 25.7% in February from 25.0% in January and the Year on Year inflation of Non-Food Group increased to 10.1% in February from 9.2% in the
previous month.
For the month of February 2021, on year‐to‐year basis, contribution to inflation by food commodities was 8.23% and the contribution of Non Food items was 6.85%.
The moving average inflation rate for the month of February is 7.9%. The corresponding rate for the month of January was 6.9%.
