Israel’s second largest airline, Arkia, is looking at expanding its operations to Sri Lanka, Tourism Minister Harin Fernando announced yesterday.
“Had the pleasure of meeting Arkia Airlines Gadi Tepper Chairman and CEO and Vice President Commercial Mike Homossany to discuss starting flight operations to Sri Lanka as soon as possible,” he said via Twitter.
The airline flies to over 40 destinations across Europe and parts of Asia and Africa.
Arkia operates some flights on a regular basis. However, the majority of its flights are flown on a seasonal basis.
“All are awaiting for the Civil Aviation Authority’s clearance which should be granted soon,” Minister Fernando said.
Sri Lanka welcomed 7,485 Israeli tourists during the first 10-days of November.
