Italy praises Sri Lanka’s efforts for economic revival

Republic of Italy Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Edmundo Sirielli, who is currently on an official visit to Sri Lanka, appreciated measures taken by Sri Lanka for a faster revival of the economy. This was revealed during a meeting with State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe on Tuesday (14). Italy’s Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Sirielli expressed his Government’s support for the ongoing recovery efforts in the country.



During the discussions, attention was paid to fast-tracking bilateral agreements necessary to implement the “Migrant-Worker Plan” aimed at securing employment opportunities in Italy for the people of Sri Lanka.

Pointing out that the tourism sector primarily contributes to the economic stability of the country, State Minister of Finance Semasinghe requested Italian Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister to provide support in attracting more Italian tourists to Sri Lanka.

Accordingly, Italy’s Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister assured that his Government will support to boost the tourism sector in Sri Lanka.
