Japan congratulates Sri Lanka; renews support

Japan yesterday congratulated Sri Lanka for peaceful conclusion of Parliamentary Election and its outcome whilst renewing its support to the development of the country.

Japanese Ambassador Akio Isomata congratulated Sri Lankan people on peaceful and democratic Parliamentary Elections held on 14 November.

He also commended Sri Lankan people’s active engagement in the democratic process, and extended his warm congratulations to all newly elected members of the Parliament.

“History demonstrates that the friendship between Japan and Sri Lanka has grown stronger over the decades. Japan is confident that the elections on 14 November along with the Presidential Election in September in Sri Lanka mark the beginning of a new chapter in further strengthening our bilateral relationship,” he said.

“Japan looks forward to working closely with the Government, newly-elected Parliamentarians and people of Sri Lanka, to achieve peace and prosperity in our countries and in the world, further deepening mutual trust and strengthening the bonds of friendship between our two countries,” Ambassador Akio Isomata added.
