Kabir Hashim appointed COPA Chairman 

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Kabir Hashim was appointed as the Chairman of the Committee on Public Accounts yesterday. 

Hashim was named for the position unanimously when the COPA met for the first time, the Parliament said.

On Monday, the Parliamentary Committee of Selection nominated 27 MPs to serve in the COPA. The Government had nominated 12 MPs to COPA including MPs Mohan Priyadarshana De Silva, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, K. Kader Masthan, Dr. Suren Raghavan, Diana Gamage, S.B. Dissanayake, Dr. Sarath Weerasekera, Wimalaweera Dissanayake, Maj. Pradeep Undugoda, Isuru Dodangoda, Sahan Pradeep Withana, and D. Weerasingha. 

The Opposition members nominated to the COPA are Tissa Attanayake, Niroshan Perera, Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle, J.C. Alawathuwala, Ashok Abeysinghe, Buddhika Pathirana, Jayantha Samaraweera, Hector Appuhamy, Hesha Withanage, Wasantha Yapa Bandara, Shanakiyan Rajaputhiran Rasamanickam, Weerasumana Weerasinghe, Prof. Charitha Herath and Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.
