Financial conglomerate LOLC Holdings yesterday kicked off the third phase of its meritorious educational initiative ‘Divi Saviya’ to encompass over 300,000 students in 4,200 schools in all 25 districts.

Launched in 2023, the ‘Divi Saviya’ which provides essential school material to students from grades 1 to 13, has supported 3,000 schools under two previous phases.

The third phase will involve 1,204 more schools each having 100-150 students thereby expanding ‘Divi Saviya’ to encompass over 4,000 schools or 40% of the schools in the country and over 300,000 students with the investment in the initiative now amounting to Rs. 2.5 billion. The initiative, titled ‘Daye Daruwange Anagathaya Wenuwen’ (for the future of the children), hopes to alleviate the financial burden on families and enable students to focus wholeheartedly on their studies.

Given the milestone and the transformative impact of the educational initiative, LOLC Deputy Chairman Ishara Nanayakkara officiated at the launch of the third phase attended by over 350 students of selected schools in Colombo and the suburbs. Group Managing Director/CEO Kapila Jayawardena, several Directors and senior management as well as the Education Ministry Director of Education – School Activities P.W. Amaradiwakara were present as well.

In keeping with the spirit of the season, LOLC ‘Divi Saviya’ third phase has a unique Christmas edition, themed ‘Gifting the Future’ throughout the month of December.

In echoing this seasonal concept, LOLC has curated a series of special activations strategically centred around 24 LOLC branches across the Island with the participation of regional schoolchildren in emphasising the value of ‘gifting’ dreams.

LOLC said as a true Sri Lankan multinational conglomerate, it takes pride in positively impacting the education of countless children and contributing to the educational journey of the future generations in these challenging times.
