Financial sector heavy conglomerate LOLC Holdings yesterday became the third and latest to be worth $ 1 billion on the Colombo stock market.
This was following a sharp 19% or Rs. 66 gain in share price this week. Yesterday it rose by Rs. 36 or 9.4% to close at Rs. 417.25, putting LOLC’s market capitalisation as of yesterday at Rs. 198.3 billion.
So far this year, LOLC market value has risen by a phenomenal Rs. 134 billion. Last week LOLC’s gain was 55% or Rs. 124.50 to Rs. 351.25.
The other two $ 1 billion-value listed companies are JKH (Rs. 227.8 billion) and Ceylon Tobacco (Rs. 206.6 billion).
JKH share price was down Rs. 8.50 or 4.7% yesterday to Rs. 172.75. It rose to a new high of Rs. 181.25 on Monday. CTC declined by Rs. 17 or 1.5% to Rs. 1,103.
