With continued focus on giving back to the society, Lanka IOC Chairman Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra this week donated a cheque of Rs. 200 million to President Ranil Wickremesinghe towards contribution to the President's Fund meant for advancement of education, upliftment of the society or any other purpose in the interest of the public.
During the meeting, between President Wickremesinghe and Mohapatra accompanied by LIOC Managing Director Manoj Gupta, among matters discussed were mutual co-operation and interest such as enhancement of use of renewable energy in Sri Lanka and need for exploring new sources for petroleum products in proximity considering new Cauvery Basin Refinery is coming on east coast of India (Tamil Nadu).
The President was extremely forthcoming and positive about the future prospects of Sri Lanka with visible stability in the economy and encouraging developments on signing a Staff-Level Agreement with the IMF.
He also congratulated Lanka IOC for completing 20 years of service to Sri Lanka and fondly remembered the time of formation of Lanka IOC in Sri Lanka.
Mohapatra expressed his gratitude to the President for the continuous support and cooperation provided by the Government including Central Bank of Sri Lanka from time to time enabling arrangement of seamless fuel supply by Lanka IOC throughout the length and breadth of the nation.
He also assured that Lanka IOC is keen and ready to play a significant role in the Sri Lankan energy market with diversification into renewables and is working towards providing multiple energy solutions to customers at its petrol sheds. He also assured that the Lanka IOC shall continue to work relentlessly towards keeping the country energised.
LIOC Chairman also thanked the President for sparing valuable time despite returning from a UK visit only a few hours back the same morning.
