The price of domestic gas cylinders has been reduced since last night, Litro Gas Lanka Ltd. Chairman Muditha Peiris announced yesterday.
The price of a 12.5 kg cylinder has been reduced by Rs. 113, whilst the 5 kg and 2.3 kg canisters have been slashed by Rs. 45 and Rs. 21, respectively.
As per the new price revision, the 12.5 kg cylinder is Rs. 4,551, the 5 kg cylinder is Rs. 1,827, and the 2.3 kg cylinder is Rs. 842.
The reduced prices resulted from the monthly pricing formula and were effective from last night.
Previously, a 12.5 kg canister was sold at Rs. 4,664, the 5 kg cylinder was Rs. 1,872, and the 2.3 kg cylinder was Rs. 869.
The last price revision on 8 August, following several months, gave people a sigh of relief — after facing much hardship since the price of commodities shot up while an unprecedented shortage in fuel and gas prevailed due to the worst economic crisis.
