Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will visit India from 8-11 February on a State visit, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has announced.

The MEA Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar making the announcement at the press briefing said Prime Minister Rajapaksa would be on a State visit to India from 8 to 11 February at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Prime Minister Rajapaksa will arrive on 7 February with a high level delegation; 8 February will be the main engagement day where he will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” the spokesperson said.
Prime Minister Rajapaksa will also call on Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and the Indian External Affairs Minister will call on Rajapaksa before he meets Prime Minister Modi.
After his official engagement in Delhi, the Prime Minister will travel to Varanasi, Saranath, Bodhgaya, and Tirupati before heading to Colombo.
The MEA spokesperson pointed out that there has been a series of high-level visits between the two countries. He noted that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa chose India as the first destination to visit after he assumed his position as the President immediately after his election victory.
