Mahesh Gammanpila to be new SLTDA Director-General

Senior Administrative Officer Mahesh Gammanpila is tipped to be the Director General of Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) with the Government already preparing to formalise his appointment, the Daily FT learns.

Gammanpila is currently serving as the Additional Secretary of the Agriculture Ministry.

Previous Director General Dhammika Wijayasingha tendered her resignation on 5 October to take up responsibilities as the Additional Secretary at Defence Ministry from yesterday.

As a Senior Administrative Officer, Gammanpila figured in the controversial organic fertiliser push in 2021 by the then President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and was the former Director at the National Fertilser Secretariat.
