The first Cabinet meeting of the new Government will be held next Wednesday under the patronage of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

It will be a day ahead of the first meeting of the new Parliament, which will be on 20 August.

Proposed changes to the 19th Amendment to the Constitution are among the issues to be discussed at the first Cabinet meeting, the Daily FT learns.
