Malwathu Chapter Chief Prelate Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thero has decided not to allow any politician to visit him.

This decision has been taken because no responsible political party has so far acted to resolve the crisis in the country and politicians are doing nothing but procrastinating without providing the necessary solutions to the sufferings of the people of this country, the Chief Prelate said in a statement.

The Maha Nayake Thera said the decision was taken due to the fact that no party has shown any positive response so far to the proposals submitted to the President, the Prime Minister and the party leaders.

The Chief Prelates of the three Buddhist Chapters submitted to the President a set of proposals including the formation of an interim government to save the country from the current crisis on 4 April, seeking immediate relief to the people.

Malwathu Chapter Maha Nayake Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thero, Asgiri Chapter Maha Nayake Ven. Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathna Thero, Amarapura Nikaya Maha Nayake Ven. Dodampahala Sri Chandrasiri Thero, and Ramanna Nikaya Maha Nayake Ven. Makulewe Sri Wimala Thero have sent the letter to Government.

It is reported that according to the decision taken by the Chief Prelate of Malwathu Viharaya, all the politicians who visited the Maha Nayake Thera in the last few days were not allowed to visit him.
