Stressing that Samagi Jana Balawegaya is ready to give leadership to an All-Party interim Government MP S. M. Marikkar insisted Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe too must immediately resign as he had not received any mandate from the people and was appointed by ousted President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
“Wickremasinghe must resign immediately as well. The Prime Minister is holding on with the hope he can become president for even three to four days and realise his lifelong ambition. The country will not become any more unstable with his resignation. He must respect the call of the people and resign immediately. We will create an interim government with all parties, and then provide relief to the public and go for an election soon,” Marikkar told the media.
Responding to a question on the demands made by protestors at the GotaGoGama site, Marikkar stressed that changes need to take place within the guidelines of the constitution and no action should be taken in any manner that contravenes it.
