Merrill J. Fernando’s third generation enters corporate arena

•  Grandson Amrit appointed Alternate Director, father Dilhan on The Fortress Resorts Board

The late iconic tea industry leader Merrill J. Fernando’s third generation has entered the corporate arena.

Merrill’s grandson Amrit M.J. Fernando has been appointed as the Alternate Director to Dilhan Fernando, his father on the Board of The Fortress Resorts Plc.

Amrit has a B.Sc (Hons) in Marketing and Management from the University of Exeter. He is currently Brand Marketing Specialist at Dilmah Tea as the first of the 3rd generation to join the family company. He is a Director at Suwa Arana representing the MJF Foundation, the first Paediatric Palliative Care Centre in Sri Lanka and Chair of Agriculture & Food Security Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce, Sri Lanka.

The Fortress Resorts PLC MJF Holdings Ltd., and related parties own near 28% stake in The Fortress Resorts PLC whilst Dhammika Perera holds control by way of 53.54% stake via Vallibel Leisure, Vallibel One PLC and personal holding.

Following the latest appointment the Board of Directors of The Fortress Resorts PLC comprise K.D.H. Perera (Chairman and Managing Director), Malik J. Fernando, L.N. De. S Wijeyeratne, J.P.V. Twest, C.V. Cabraal, J.A.S.S. Adhihetty, C.U. Weerawardena, R.N. Malinga (Alternate to Malik J Fernando), J.R. Gunaratne, K. Amarasinghe, D.C. Fernando and A.M.J. Fernando (alternate to D.C. Fernando).
