Ministry officials forced to sign two documents by HRCSL: Kanchana

Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera yesterday claimed of Ministry officials being forced to sign documents by the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka.

Taking to Twitter, Minister said, he was informed by the Secretary of the Ministry that officials that took part in the discussion with the HRCSL on 25 January were pressurised to sign two documents that they did not agree to by two members of the HRCSL.

He said the officials were threatened with jail sentences if they failed to sign the documents.

Minister Wijesekera added that the officials have already consulted legal opinions on steps to be taken against the members of the Human Rights Commission.

He also added the officials have submitted in writing the events that took place.

Minister Wijesekera said he informed the President last morning of the developments and stated that the Constitutional Council will be informed in writing as well.
