Amidst growing concerns over potential price increases, both Litro and LAUGFS Gas companies announced to retain the current prices of domestic liquefied petroleum (LP) gas cylinders, providing a welcome relief to consumers.

State-run Litro Gas Lanka Chairman Muditha Peiris said although the company had been scheduled to announce its monthly price revision for domestic LP gas, which follows the Government’s pricing formula, it has chosen to absorb the market pressures and maintain the current prices. For four consecutive months, Litro Gas has announced price reductions this year and following last month’s price revision, the price of a 12.5kg cylinder was brought down to Rs. 2,892 and a 5kg cylinder to Rs. 1,198.

Similarly, Laugfs Gas Group CEO Niroshan J. Peiris announced its decision to refrain from raising prices despite the recent upward trend in global markets.

Laugfs prices for domestic gas cylinders will remain stable throughout the month of August as a 12.5kg gas cylinder will be sold at Rs. 3,690, while a 5kg cylinder will be available for Rs. 1,476.

The move is expected to provide stability and relief to households across the country, particularly at a time when managing household expenses remains a top concern.
