The feasibility of using the compost of Meethotamulla garbage dump as organic fertiliser is being explored, sources said.
Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna MP and Attorney-at-Law Premnath C. Dolawatte yesterday visited the site which has been abandoned since the deadly fire in 2017.
Estimated to be spanning 25 acres, the dump today is lush with various plants which have grown using the natural compost.
Dolawatte said experts will do a feasibility report and hand it over to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who is championing the Government's aggressive strategy of promoting the use of organic fertiliser in the country.
