The first 203 days of the new regime at the Central Bank has printed more money than the former administration as per statistics.
The CBSL has printed Rs. 691 billion at an average of Rs. 3.4 billion per day since Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe was appointed as the Governor.
In contrast, during the entire tenure of 203 days of predecessor Ajith Nivard Cabraal, the amount of money printed was Rs. 446 billion at an average of Rs. 2.2 billion or 54% less than Dr. Weerasinghe’s tenure so far.
