The ceremonial opening of the fifth session of the ninth Parliament will commence under the auspices of President Ranil Wickremesinghe today.
Accordingly, parliament will commence proceedings at 10.30 a.m. with the presentation of the Government’s policy statement by President Wickremesinghe.
During the meeting on 1 February, the party leaders decided to schedule the debate on the Government policy statement presented by the President for 8 and 9 February.
Accordingly, the adjournment debate will take place on 8 and 9 February, from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe prorogued the fourth session of the ninth Parliament until 7 February via an Extraordinary Gazette on 26 January.
