The Cabinet of Ministers approved to appoint of an operational monitoring committee to carry out the activities related to the restructuring of the Co-operative Wholesale Establishment (Sathosa) and to implement the proposed restructuring process.
The objective of the restructuring process is to make Sathosa more efficient and effective in serving the people.
“The Government has recognised the need to restructure the Cooperative Wholesale Establishment, known as Sathosa, as it has not been able to achieve its desired objectives and contribute effectively to the economy,” Cabinet Co-Spokesman and Minister Banduala Gunawardena said.
He said the committee is tasked with monitoring the progress of the restructuring process and ensuring that it is carried out in a timely and efficient manner.
