The very first ‘Tap to Donate’ payment terminals in Sri Lanka are now up and running, thanks to a partnership between PAYable Ltd., the country’s leading non-bank Fintech service provider, and WECare Worldwide, a charity dedicated to the care and treatment of street dogs in the Southern Province, Sri Lanka.

This innovative collaboration aims to harness the power of technology to make a difference to animal welfare, one tap at a time.

PAYable are installing digital payment terminals in select venues around the island, with the first two now in place at Seed Café and Grind in Colombo, and more to follow soon on the south coast and across the country. These terminals enable patrons to effortlessly contribute to WECare Worldwide with a simple tap of a bank card or mobile phone.

PAYAble Managing Director/Co-Founder Yohan Wijesiriwardane said: “We are excited to partner with WECare Worldwide and support their incredible work with street dogs in Sri Lanka. Our ‘Tap to Donate’ initiative combines convenience with compassion, allowing people to make a direct impact on the welfare of street dogs across the country with the simple act of tapping their card on a terminal.”

Dr. Janey Lowes (BVMedSci(Hons) BVM BVS CertAVP MRCVS) founded WECare Worldwide to address the urgent needs of vulnerable street dogs, and the funds raised through the ‘Tap to Donate’ program will directly contribute to medical treatments, vaccinations, and daily care for these animals.

“Donations from the public are crucial in helping us continue our lifesaving work, and partnering with PAYable opens up a new pathway to support our mission,” said Dr. Lowes. “This initiative not only raises funds but also awareness about the plight of street dogs in our community – each tap represents a beacon of hope for these animals.”

Restaurants participating in the program will be equipped with PAYable’s state-of-the-art digital payment systems, ensuring that every donation is processed securely and efficiently, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to WECare Worldwide.
