Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday instructed the Finance Ministry to pay incentives for Inland Revenue Department’s officials who have met their revenue targets, the Prime Minister’s Media Division said in a statement.
A discussion was held between Inland Revenue Department trade unions and the Prime Minister at Temple Trees. During the meeting Prime Minister Rajapaksa instructed Finance Ministry Secretary S.R. Attygalle to take necessary steps to pay incentives to Inland Revenue Department officials.
Accordingly, Inland Revenue Department officials’ incentives would be paid by next week, Prime Minister Media Division said. According to the Prime Minister’s Media Division, PM Rajapaksa had expressed his pleasure to Inland Revenue officials.
The statement further said that Inland Revenue Staff Officers Association Secretary J.J. Jayawickrama expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for agreeing to pay incentives amid COVID-19 pandemic.
