Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has ordered UNP backbencher MPs to withdraw the No-Confidence Motions handed over to the Speaker against the SLFP Ministers and MP who voted with Joint Opposition on Thursday.

The Premier stated that the No-Confidence Motions against the SLFP Ministers and MP were not a collective decision of the UNP.

Accordingly the Prime Minister, in his capacity as the leader of the UNP, while noting that any decision regarding a No-Confidence motion must be taken at a UNP parliamentary group meeting, has instructed the UNP backbencher parliamentarians to withdraw the No-Confidence motions. Therefore these MPs will withdraw the no confidence motions filed.

Further decisions on the matter will be taken at a UNP group meeting, soon.

The Prime Minister has asserted that the issues arisen with SLFP would be resolved through negotiations.
