Members of the Parliament Select Committee (PSC) looking into the Easter Day attacks will meet with Speaker Karu Jayasuriya today to discuss how to overcome the impasse, following the directive by President Maithripala Sirisena that serving security officials are not to go before the Committee.
Among the officials the PSC wants to summon are the Head of the State Intelligence Service (SIS) as well as senior CID and TID officials, but the President has strongly objected to the move, saying having them at the Committee would compromise national security.
A decision on how to proceed amidst these constraints will be taken at the meeting with the Speaker, Committee sources said.
Meanwhile the OIC of the Kattankudy Police Station as well as its former OIC have been summoned to appear before the Committee when it meets this afternoon
Members of the Sufi sect from Kattankudy too have been asked to appear today.
