Electricity regulator, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) yesterday called on the Government to take immediate action to appoint a suitable candidate for the Power and Energy Ministerial portfolios, considering the worsening energy crisis.
“The appointment of a minister/s for the portfolio/s is required immediately to make decisions and to provide the essential services to the electricity and petroleum consumers,” PUCSL Chairman Janaka Rathnayake said.
The entire Cabinet of Ministers, except for Prime Minister resigned on Sunday amidst ongoing protests across the country fuelled by the prevailing economic crisis.
