The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) filed a case in the District Court of Colombo over outstanding annual licence fee due from the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).
The CEB has not paid the annual Licence Levy on six licences granted by the PUCSL amounting to Rs. 162,066,600.
The application was supported before the District Judge of Colombo Jayaki De Alwis.
The senior counsel for the PUCSL Chandana Liyanapatabendy, President’s Counsel stressed that under Section 46 of the Electricity Act No. 20 of 2009 (as amended) the PUCSL was entitled to get a fiscal order to recover the due amount from the Electricity Board.
The District Court issued notice on the respondent Electricity Board to appear in Court today.
Liyanapatabendy with Vijaya Gamage, instructed by Dushmantha Peiris, appeared for the PUCSL.
