The Palm Oil Industry Association (POIA) has extends its heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the newly elected President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka.

POIA in a statement said it looks forward to fostering strong relations that support sustainable agricultural practices and economic growth under his leadership.

“The palm oil industry is strongly committed to promoting responsible production and sustainable agricultural practices that not only boost the economy but also benefit the environment and local communities,” said a POIA spokesperson.

POIA said it is pleased to note the policy framework of the National People’s Power (NPP) under President Dissanayaka’s leadership.

The focus on sustainable development of the agriculture sector, self-sufficiency in food production, and enhancing land productivity aligns with our goals. The emphasis on diversifying unproductive areas into more productive crops and ensuring benefits for all stakeholders, including farmers, producers, and consumers, is commendable.

“We recognise the importance of collaboration between the Government and industry stakeholders to ensure that agricultural policies are in line with the nation’s environmental goals and economic aspirations,” the spokesperson added.

POIA is optimistic that under President Dissanayaka’s leadership, the country will continue to advance its agricultural strategies, enhancing food security and economic stability. As a former Agriculture Minister, his experience and vision are invaluable.

“We look forward to working closely with the new administration to promote sustainable practices, support local farmers, and develop policies that reflect the values of conservation and economic development. Together, we can achieve a brighter, more sustainable future for Sri Lanka,” further commented the POIA spokesperson.
