Passport fees increased from today

The Government has decided to increase the passport fee from today, the Government Information Department said in a statement. 

Accordingly, the normal service fee has been increased from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 3,500 and the one-day service charge for issuing passports, which was previously at Rs. 10,000, has been increased to Rs. 15,000. 

The service charges for issuing passports for children under the age of 16 has been increased from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 2,500. Meanwhile, one-day service fee for child passports has been increased from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 7,500. The service charges for issuing passports for children under 16 years of age have also been revised. The normal service fee has been increased from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 2,500, while one-day service fee has been increased from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 7,500. Charges for making a single change in the passport has doubled from Rs. 500 to Rs. 1,000.

The statement further said increasing of charges for passport issuance was implemented in line with the Budget proposal for the fiscal year 2019.
