The Ministry of Finance has introduced a scheme which will enable public officials who are eligible for a vehicle permit to use it to purchase unregistered vehicles locally.
The Ministry of Finance issued a circular numbered 01/2020 yesterday, which introduces the scheme for eligible public officials.
Issuing a press release, the ministry explained that the scheme would enable a permit holder to deduct the value of the permit from the market price of a vehicle in stock from authorised dealers or an importer with excess stock.
Permits issued under the State Administration Circular no 22/99 (Amended) and Market and Investment Policies circular number 01/2018 (Amended) will be eligible for the new scheme.
The Finance Ministry will reimburse the value of the permit to the vehicle dealers or importers.
