In a significant move towards promoting road safety under the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ program initiated by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the Sri Lanka Police unveiled the e-Traffic mobile application yesterday at the Police Headquarters. The app was officially launched by the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasooriya.

The e-Traffic app will allow the public to promptly report traffic violations and road-related incidents, aiming to enhance accountability and minimise daily traffic accidents. According to the Police, the app can be easily downloaded via the E-services section on the official Sri Lanka Police website at www.police.lk

The app’s features include the ability to upload photos and videos of traffic violations using the built-in camera and video options. These reports will be forwarded directly to the Police Headquarters for immediate review. Once received, the Police Headquarters will investigate the violations and direct cases to relevant police stations and divisions for further legal action.

Traffic police officers from 607 police stations across all divisions in the country will be part of the initiative. The Police Media Division emphasised that the Headquarters would also monitor the progress of investigations to ensure effective follow-up and resolution.
