Top commercial litigator and corporate luminary Harsha Amarasekera PC has been appointed as the Chairman of the Colombo Port City Economic Commission leading a star-studded team consisting of corporate and industry heavyweights appointed by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
Chosen for his legal, financial and investment acumen, Amarasekera is well known for his independence and integrity.
The other new Commission Members are corporate leaders Dr. Parakrama Dissanayake, Amal Cabraal, Dr. Harsha Subasinghe, Sanjaya Kulatunga and Ray Abeywardena, who collectively bring with them significant expertise from different fields that will help propel the Port City’s much needed growth within the framework of the Port City Economic Commission Act. The move also signals Government’s commitment to advancing the project as a key economic hub.
Amarasekera also brings with him extensive experience in cross- border dispute resolution and significant corporate experience by being chairman of several private sector organisations such as Sampath Bank PLC and CIC Holdings PLC. This, coupled with the varied experience of the other Commission members across multi- disciplinary fronts, will help foster the advancement and growth of the Port City and the national economy.
The official letters of appointment were handed over to the members by the Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.
