President Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday affirmed his dedication to driving substantial progress in Sri Lanka’s gem industry within the next two years.
To realise this objective, the President said he plans to introduce a new program aimed at extensive modernisation within the gem and jewellery sector.
Speaking at the inauguration of the first-ever “Gem Sri Lanka” exhibition in Bentota, the President underlined the proposed program’s positive impact on the national economy and industry stakeholders.
The President not only stressed the importance of offering tax concessions but also highlighted the transformation of the gem and jewellery industry into a key contributor to the country’s foreign exchange earnings.
