President mocks at Opposition’s “Disneyland” allegations

President Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday took a direct jab at the Opposition for living in a ‘make-believe’ world and promised to gradually lead them out of it.

Speaking at the annual post-Budget forum jointly organised by the Daily FT-Colombo University MBA Alumni Association with the strategic partnership of the Standard Chartered Bank, he made a candid remark referring to comments made by MP Eran Wickremeratne in Parliament, where the Opposition member claimed that the Government is attempting to create a Disneyland-like environment with the Budget.

Responding to this, the President quipped: “Yes, we were in the house of horror in Disneyland and I have just taken them out of it.”

Wickremesinghe claimed that from his perspective, the Parliament appears to be a Disneyland for the Opposition, emphasising that they are immersed in a fantasy world detached from reality.
