President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appointed Renuka Weerakoon as the new Director General of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka.
Weerakoon has been with the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka for nearly three decades. Prior to her promotion Weerakoon served as the Senior Executive Director of BOI.
She received her primary education at St. Joseph’s College, Cairo, Egypt, and then her primary education at St. Bridget’s Convent, Colombo, and then got enrolled in the Colombo Law College. She joined the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka in 1994 as Assistant Manager Laws – Regional Development and has since served as Managing Director, Executive Director and Executive Director in a number of categories.
She holds a Postgraduate Degree in Business Administration and a Postgraduate Degree in Project Management from the University of Jayewardenepura. She is also a Fellow member of the Sri Lanka Law Association, having studied Government Policy Analysis and Implementation at the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration.
