President starts talks to form all-party Govt.

  • SJB, SLFP and TNA agree to hold discussions 
  • Discussions already held with SLPP, CWC and NC

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has commenced discussions with political parties to form an all-party Government. According to the President’s Media Unit the President will hold several key discussions today with several groups. 

Releasing a statement, the PMD also said the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the Tamil National Alliance have also agreed to hold discussions on the matter with President Wickremesinghe.

Meanwhile, the President also held several rounds of discussions yesterday. 

Accordingly, the first meeting was held with a group of MPs representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) while the second meeting was held with the Ceylon Workers' Congress (CWC) led by its leader Senthil Thondaman and General Secretary Jeevan Thondaman. 

The PMD said the third discussion was held with the National Congress led by MP A.L.M. Athaullah. Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, Secretary to the President Saman Ekanayake, and Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister Chaminda Kularatne were also in attendance.
