President to attend Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral

President Ranil Wickremesinghe is scheduled to participate in the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey, London on 19 September, his office announced yesterday.

Wickremesinghe visited the British High Commission yesterday to extend condolences over the death of Queen Elizabeth II. He was received by British High Commissioner Sarah Hulton.



The President made a condolence note in the special book of condolence placed at the British High Commission and appreciated the great services rendered by her to the people all over the world during seven decades. Queen Elizabeth II passed away peacefully on 8 September at her residence.
