President to inaugurate Colombo Uni. MBAA-Daily FT ESG Summit tomorrow

President Ranil Wickremesinghe will tomorrow inaugurate the Daily FT-Colombo University MBA Alumni Association organised ESG Summit 2024 under the theme “Sustainable Pathways To A Brighter Future” at 9 a.m. at the Oak Room, Cinnamon Grand.

The ESG Summit will be a full day event with 15 experts sharing transformative insights and innovative solutions in sustainability.

ESG Summit strategic partner HSBC CEO for Sri Lanka and Maldives Mark Surgenor will be the Guest of Honour.

A host of experts will do a deep dive into environmental, social and governance (ESG) aspects via keynotes and a panel discussion.

The session on environment will see a keynote by Presidential Adviser on Environment, Climate Change and Green Finance Dr. Ananda Mallawatantri, MAS Holdings Environmental Sustainability General Manager Dhanujie Jayapala, and Peradeniya University Faculty of Agriculture Senior Professor Buddhi Marambe. It will be moderated by Daily FT Editor Nisthar Cassim.

The session on social will see a keynote by UNDP Sri Lanka Resident Representative Azusa Kubota whilst the panel will include Brandix Managing Director Hasitha Premarathna and JKH Vice President and Marketing Head Nilusha Fernando with Oceanpick Ltd. Chairman Rizvi Zaheed as moderator.

The session on governance will involve a keynote by NSB Chairman Dr. Harsha Cabral PC and a panel comprising University of Moratuwa Senior Professor Ajith de Alwis, Sustainable Energy Authority Chairman Eng. Ranjith Sepala, and SLYCAN Trust Research and Knowledge Management Director Dennis Mombauer. It will be moderated by MBA Alumni Association Treasurer and Swisstek Director/CEO Dr. Tharindu Atapattu.

The Summit will conclude with a panel on sustainable financing with HSBC Asia Pacific Sustainability Head Sunil Veetil as the keynote speaker. Alliance Finance Company PLC Managing Director Romani De Silva, DIMO CFO/Director Suresh Goonerate, Teejay Lanka PLC Chief Operating Officer Salman Nishtar, and Colombo Stock Exchange CEO Rajeeva Bandaranaike will figure in the panel which will be moderated by HSBC Communications Head Tharanga Gunasekera.
