President Ranil Wickremesinghe will keynote the popular Daily FT-University of Colombo MBA Alumni Association post-2024 Budget forum on Wednesday 15 November at 9 a.m. at Shangri-La, Colombo.
The President Wickremesinghe-led Government’s 2024 Budget is being highly anticipated by the people and the private sector as it is expectedto spur much needed socio-economic growth next year onwards after having stabilised the economy following the unprecedented crisis last year.
Given the critical importance, the FT-Colombo Uni MBAA forum will bring together select but key experts from the public, private sectors and multilateral donor communityto share their key observations on 2024 Budget, which is scheduled to be delivered by President Wickremesinghe on 13 November in Parliament. The experts panel includes Treasury Secretary Mahinda Siriwardena, World Bank Sri Lanka Country Manager Chiyo Kanda, former Central Bank Deputy Governor and FT columnist W.A. Wijewardena, top diversified blue chip John Keells Holdings Chairperson Krishan Balendra, Forum’s Strategic Partner Standard Chartered Bank Sri Lanka CEO Bingumal Thewathantri and forum’s knowledge partner Deloitte Sri Lanka and Maldives Country Managing Partner Channa Manoharan. The panel will be moderated by Daily FT Editor and CEO Nisthar Cassim.
At last year’s post-Budget Forum, which was also keynoted by Wickremesinghe, the audience benefitted from a very interactive session with the President who readily responded to multiple questions raised. Incidentally, Wickremesinghe is the first alumnus from the University of Colombo to be Sri Lanka’s President.
