Protesters mob President’s Mirihana residence

A tense situation erupted outside the private residence of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa last night, when hundreds of people tried to break the barricades and enter the premises with one barricade already taken down by the angry protesters. 

Security was beefed up immediately with Army and Riot Police deployed outside the President's house. Later, Police fired tear gas and used water cannons to disperse protestors on Pengiriwatte Road, Mirihana leading to the President's private residence
