Japan, South Korea, the Europe Union and others willing to assist the country be formed to address the country’s immediate economic needs.
He also said both the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have agreed to assist the country with short-term loans to buy urgent requirements such as medicine.
He also said he had spoken with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and they too are willing to assist the country.
“We need dollars to provide people with urgent needs. For that we need to know the truth about the state of the economy. Do our foreign reserves stand at $ 2 billion or is it down to $ 600,000? I request the Chairman of the Public Finance Committee Anura Yapa to place those details before the House. Parliament must take this responsibility as the Executive has failed in this regard,” he said.
