Recovery of loan instalments from public officials from June after two-month suspension

The suspension of the recovery of instalments and interest for the loans granted to all Public Officers as a relief measure due to the COVID-19 situation will not be applicable from this month, the Ministry of Public Administration has notified. Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Secretary J.J. Rathnasiri has notified Secretaries to Ministries, Chief Secretaries of Provinces, Heads of Departments of the decision in a circular. “The decision taken to suspend the recovery of instalments and the interest for the loans, granted to all Public Officers shall not be applicable from the salary of the month of June and relevant loan instalments and interests shall be recovered from the salary of the officers concerned as before,” it said.

The waiver was given for the months of April and May taking into consideration the COVID-19 situation in the country, the Ministry said.
