The Government has increased the budgetary allocation provided to Members of the Parliament (MPs) for development activities of their respective divisions by Rs. 5 million.

“I firmly believe that through this, the expectations of 225 MPs at district level can be achieved on a wider scale. It is a victory of the people,” Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa said during his Budget 2022 speech.

Accordingly, each MP will be provided an allocation of Rs. 15 million for 2022. The total development budgetary allocations will amount to Rs. 3.4 billion.
