The rupee slumped to a new low yesterday as the dollar exchange rate touched a record Rs. 202.70.
The Telegraphic Transfer selling rate of the dollar yesterday was Rs. 202.70 according to the Central Bank. The previous high of Rs. 202.10 was 1 April.
The buying rate yesterday was Rs. 198.00.
Wealth Trust Securities said the USD/LKR rate on the more active one-week forward contracts were seen closing the day at levels of Rs. 201/201.50 yesterday against its previous day’s closing level of Rs. 200.50/201.50.
