The Industries Ministry yesterday said that the Central Bank has pledged to intervene to address the current paper shortage.
“The paper shortage surfaced due to difficulties in opening Letters of Credit (LCs) from commercial banks, as a reflection of the dearth in foreign exchange in the economy,” Industries Minister S.B. Dissanayake said.
He said the Ministry has already taken steps to develop and strengthen the paper manufacturing industry in the country.
