The capital markets regulatory body SEC’s Board of Commissioners is still in limbo without a proper composition.

This status quo is despite Presidential Secretariat a month ago informing Finance Ministry to appoint several persons as Commissioners.

Daily FT learns that former Chairman Dr. Dayanath Jayasuriya has been proposed as the Chairman and other new members nominated are Ernst & Young former Country Managing Partner Asite Talwatte, former SEC official and currently LOLC Chief Operating Officer Kithsiri Gunawardena, NDB Capital Holdings Director and CEO Vajira Kulatilaka, Sungrow Plantation Ltd. Chairman and Sustainable Energy Authority Lanka former Chairman Prasad Galhena and former Judge and Judicial Services Commission Secretary Sisira Ratnayake.

At present only three Ex-Officio Commission members are active. They are D.N.R. Siriwardena (Registrar of Companies), Jagath Perera (Institute of Chartered Accountants) and H.A. Karunaratne (Central Bank).
