SJB rallies public for COVID death memorial

Requests all to light a lamp/candle on Friday at 6:06 p.m.

The main Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is appealing to the people to light a

lamp /candle on Friday, 3 September at 6:06 p.m. in remembrance of all those who have passed away due to

COVID-19.

A statement issued by SJB Co-Media Spokesmen and MPs S.M. Marikkar and Manusha Nayakkara said the pandemic had so far taken over 9,000 lives in Sri Lanka and infected over 440,000.

It urged people to light a lamp /candle on Friday evening with a prayer for the pandemic.

“We request people to pray for all COVID positive patients in hospitals or home, all medical care employees as well as members of the armed forces and police who are engaged in the battle to eradicate the pandemic,” the SJB statement added.
