Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) yesterday expressed confidence about the party’s prospects at the forthcoming General Election, insisting that they would be unaffected by the United National Party’s (UNP) Working Committee decision to oust 115 members from their party.
“Yesterday’s decision by the UNP’s Working Committee to expel 115 from the party by stripping their party membership will not affect the SJB’s election campaign,” a party spokesman told the Daily FT.
“It (the decisions) doesn’t affect us at all. This shows how bankrupt the UNP is today,” he said, adding that the decision will be corrected after 6 August.
“After the General Elections, UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe will have to sit in the Working Committee by himself,” SJB spokesman added.
