Coinciding with President Maithripala Sirisena’s State visit to Japan in March, the Government is planning to conduct an investment Forum in Tokyo.
“When President Sirisena makes a State visit to Japan in March this year, we have a good opportunity to build on that to take our partnership to new heights. Coinciding with his visit we hope to have an Investment Forum in Tokyo and I hope I will see many of you there as well,”
Development Strategies and International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickramasaid, speaking at the Sri Lanka-Japan Economic Forum held on Thursday in Colombo.
According to the Minister, the proposed visit will help further boost relations between the two countries.
President Sirisena made his first State visit to Japan in May 2016 to participate in the G7 Summit on an official invitation made by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe as an Outreach Partner. This was the first time a Sri Lankan leader has been invited to this summit. The Japanese Premier warmly received the President at the conference.
