SL declares national mourning today over death of Iranian President

The Government yesterday declared today (21) a national mourning day in respect of the Iranian President, late Ebrahim Raisi who was killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday. Flags at all State institutions, ministries and departments should fly at half-mast today, Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Ministry Secretary Pradeep Yasaratne informed.

Raisi was travelling in a helicopter along with his Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. Iran’s State media yesterday confirmed they were killed after the helicopter they were travelling in came down on Sunday.
